Directions
Stove Top or Steam Kettle Directions:
- In a large pot or steam kettle, combine the contents of this can, 8 oz. (1 cup) margarine, oil, or butter, and 3 quarts plus 3 cups of boiling water. Stir well.
- Drain and add 2 lb. of cooked poultry or seafood to the mixture.
- Stove Top: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Steam Kettle: Bring to a boil, turn off heat, cover, and hold in steam kettle for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes to fully thicken.
Oven Cook Directions:
- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- In a 12" x 20" x 2 ½" steam table pan, combine the contents of this can, 8 oz. (1 cup) margarine, oil, or butter, 3 quarts plus 3 cups boiling water, and 2 lb. cooked, drained poultry or seafood. Mix thoroughly.
- Cover the pan tightly with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Check to ensure noodles are fully cooked before removing from the oven. Keep covered until serving to allow the dish to fully thicken.
Tips:
- Consistency: The finished dish will thicken as it stands. Add up to 1 cup of hot water if needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Flavor Boost: Substitute the water with juice from the cooked poultry for added richness.
